Where Learning is Visible

Visible Learning is developing student accountability of their own learning. We want our learners to set goals, track their progress, and motivate their own learning.  Teachers are master facilitators of the learning process, the standards, and are working to develop assessment capable learners.

Visible Learning vocabulary you might hear from you learner:

  • Growth Mindset
  • Te Learning Pit/Pool
  • Learning Intentions
  • Success Criteria
  • Data Folders
  • Progress Monitoring

Here is a great video to help you understand what Visible Learning is all about: Michael Jordan Learning Pit Video

Attendance at Gate City Elementary School

Every day is an important day of learning for your child. We recognize that sometimes absences can't be avoided, so if your child will be absent from school for any reason, please contact us immediately so we can mark it down. You can contact the school at 237-2503.

Also, if you'd like the teacher to pull work for your child during their absence, please let us know by 9:00 a.m. and we will have the teacher collect the work. Work will be available for pick up after 1:00 p.m.
