Who We Are
The Education Foundation is comprised of current and retired District 25 staff, as well as business and community members.
Board members serve a 3-year term with the option of one additional term. Members in good standing may continue to serve on the Board of Directors if/until another interested person has been nominated and appointed to the Board.
Board members are expected to attend regularly scheduled meetings as well as committee meetings. Our Board meetings are held the second Thursday of September, November, January, March and May at 4pm at the School District office, unless otherwise communicated.
The Foundation has several accounts: each school has their own line item, we have a General Fund for District-wide projects, as well as ear-marked funds (extracurricular assistance, dual enrollment, etc.).
What We Do
The purpose of the Education Foundation Board is to provide support to District 25 schools, staff and students. Our major directive is to raise and distribute funds to worthwhile projects, as deemed appropriate by the Foundation Board of Directors. Some of our main areas of financial focus include:
- 21st Century technology in classrooms,
- Instructional enrichment materials in classrooms,
- District-wide projects to improve student learning.
Festival of Trees
Our major fundraiser is the Festival of Trees held each year the week after Thanksgiving. This event raises over $100,000 for the Foundation. Funds are divided between technology grants and classroom grants. Recipients must volunteer at Festival of Trees to be eligible for grant money.
To effectively accomplish our goals, the Board is comprised of 4 committees. As a Board member, you will be asked to participate on at least one of the following committees. Assignments may be adjusted to expose members to all areas of the Board.
- Board Recruitment & Development
- School and pass through grant review
- Festival of Trees review and scoring
- Awards & Recognition
- CAKE award
- Sponsor wall
- Festival Appreciation Reception
- Festival of Trees
- Bi-annual internal campaign
- External fundraising
