Indian Hills is located in south Pocatello and serves approximately 580 students, kindergarten through fifth grade. Our highly qualified staff is focused on providing your child with the tools they will need to achieve a high level of learning.

Student Achievement: The year is divided into three trimesters. A standards-based progress report will be sent home at the end of the trimester. The standards raise expectations for student learning at every grade level. The standard-based report card and standard-based grading system are aligned to clearly communicate information about your child's progress towards meeting the standards. This system helps teachers, students and parents focus on important standards at each grade level. More information about the standards-based progress reports can be found on the district website. Please use Infinite Campus to track your child's progress.
Attendance every day is extremely important for your child. We understand there will be times when an absence is unavoidable. Please call the school if your child is going to be absent or tardy. This is important to confirm your child is safely in your care if not at the school. If available, please provide medical documentation for absences.
Please make every effort to have your child at school by 7:55 a.m. The tardy bell rings at 8:00 a.m. Students who are tardy must enter through the main doors of the school and check in at the office.
If you must check out your child during the school day, please ring the doorbell,show photo ID and the office staff will bring them out to meet you there. If your child returns before the end of the day, we ask that you ring the doorbell and the office staff will sign them back in. If someone other than those listed as emergency contacts for your child is to pick them up, please let the office know. We will only allow your child to leave with people you have identified on the registration form as a contact.
Drop off/Pick Up & Parking Lots: Students are not allowed to cross through any of the parking lots. Students may be dropped off or picked up in the lot in front of the school. The first lane closest to the school is for drop off/pick up only. It is not to be used for parking. Students may also be picked up across the playground at the parking lot for the Edson Fichter Nature Area. All students and parents need to use the crosswalks and the crossing guards to cross Bannock Highway and Cheyenne Avenue. Please do not park in the faculty parking lot.
Communication is a key factor in your child's success. Our teachers are available before or after school to meet/talk to parents by appointment. They may also be reached via email. Email addresses are the first six letters of their last name and the first two letters of their first followed by @sd25.us. (Please see the Faculty page for a complete list of email addresses). If you do not get a response back from the teacher, be sure to make a call. Sometimes the district filter system will put emails in the "junk" folder until teachers note to allow them.
Newsletters are written by the principal and can be found on the Indian Hills Elementary School website each month.
Infinite Campus is another great tool used to communicate with parents. If you have not signed up for an account, please contact the office for instructions on how to proceed.
Emergency Contact Information: Please make sure we always have your current emergency contact information so that, if needed, we can contact you quickly.
Please be sure your child knows what he/she is to do after school before he/she comes to school in the mornings. If an unexpected emergency arises and your child needs to receive a message during the school day, the office will pass the message along. Please call well before the end of the day so there is time to get the message to your child.
We ask that students not bring electronic devices (cell phones, smart watches, etc.) to school since we cannot guarantee their safe-keeping. If students do bring them, they are to be kept in a safe place and turned off during the school day.
